Getting a visa for China is more complicated than other countries I’ve visited. The nearest consulate is in Chicago, and they do not take visa applications by mail. That means no UPS guy either. You have to either show up in person, or hire a service to do it for you.

Travel date is set!

Well, I’m off to China this July 11th for 6 weeks in Dalian (Liaoning province) to get started on Chinese language. Hopefully this will get my ear a little used to the speed, etc. Also, I’m hoping it will help me jump into a little higher starting level at Jilin University in the fall.
