Eating Desert at Beijing Airport

Here’s a picture of a desert that I had in Beijing Airport last August, when leaving for India. It was a Korean restaurant, and judging from the staff’s reactions after I ordered it, I doubt that anyone else had ordered it in a long while…
However, it tasted pretty good…

Another Great Wall treck

Since I’m travelling with another student from Harbin, he wanted to go to the great wall, etc. We ended up doing the same 10k trek that I did in January. This time, the wall was full of tourists, so you see people all the time. Also, there were people selling books, fans+, postcards, ice water, [...]

Soft sleepers, train tickets

Immediately after arriving in Xi’an, we got train tickets back to Beijing. This is the end of the summer (busiest travel season), and it’s almost impossible to get tickets within a few days. The only thing available was a soft sleeper compartment, which is the most expensive. It cost (around) 450rmb from Xi’an to Beijing. [...]

Xi’an (pronounced as two syllables, and written (in Pinyin) with a quote mark to separate the syllables, means West Peace. It was the capital of China for quite a while. My history knowledge doesn’t go much farther than that.
It’s famous for it’s Terracotta Warriors, which are pottery statues that were made to accompany the emperor [...]

The room we got had a sewage leak that they were in the middle of repairing. The roof was open, water on the floor , etc. But, they said they would move us the next morning, so we accepted. Got some extra sleep at least!
Next day, we wondered around, and found some really great shopping [...]
